What I like about math — is the certainty of logic. For better or worse, mathematics is an idealists dream. A world with law and order, where if certain rules are followed(and followed equally by everyone), certain outcomes are achieved. Great is the pleasure when a problem is solved, when dots are connected, when things make sense out of the blue.
What I like about history — is beauty of tales, the retelling of events — both important and banal, the rich detail and context that paints all the stories. If I had all the money in the world, all I would do is travel, read history books and keep a library.
What I like about language — “English”, “Hindi” or “Urdu”, the way words and expressions can change moments. I really do feel that the extent of your language and expression determines the size of your world. Being good in language is akin to being good in art. It takes effort, focus & time. However the pleasure one can gain from it is simply immeasurable.
What I like about walking aimlessly is how it is the only activity that truly reflects my internal thoughts. I am a wanderer. I like to move like an atom — Mr Brown. Which is a far cry from why I like working out too. It allows my mind to shut off for a while. Perhaps that’s what I need, wandering and shutting off.
What I like about reading is that it helps me walk to a different world, but it also helps me shut off. If I think clearly, the only time that I feel relaxed, truly relaxed is when I am delaying my responsibilities within the confines of a good book that involves travel.
